About Amy Gissen
My name is Amy and I live in New York City. I am an ardent traveler who has visited 45 countries, and I hope to augment that number. Through my lens and words, I strive to capture the character of the places I visit and the people I meet on my journeys around the world by sharing stories, images, and perspectives. I hope to inspire you to explore the world and seek your own adventures.
I believe that travel has the potential to transport not only the physical body but also the mind and spirit, revealing one’s inner essence. The excitement that is integral to visiting a new place is enhanced by a feeling of freedom that is unmatched.
I have traveled with friends, family, lovers, and people I have met on the road, but most frequently as a solo backpacker. Traveling solo has enhanced my jaunts by compelling me to face challenges and joys that are unique to that style. I treasure each experience, the people I have met, the friends I have kept, the education I have acquired, and the exposure to new cultures I have gained.

Photography is a wonderful form of expression, both present and enduring. When I look at my travel photos, I am energetically drawn back to the locations and moments depicted in the images.
Travel can be romantic in all meanings of the word: dreamy, exciting, exotic, mysterious, adventurous, and amorous. I have been roused to write about some of my romantic episodes. I invite you to read a compilation of four short travel romances in the memoir style, entitled “Take Your Pleasure” by clicking on the {stories} link.
Click on the book tab to learn about my book, to be published by the end of 2025.
